About us
Recently there has been a big trend to importing nappies from as far away as Australia and the States, and this seems an absurd waste of resources, in shipping these nappies all that way. I am not saying that these imported nappies are no good - on the contrary, some of them are superb, and I would choose them myself, if it wasn't for the fact that they are transported so far. Imported nappies often seem cheap, because of exchange rates, but frequently parents get caught out, because they may get charged import duty, and then a handling charge, for tax office handling. After sales can be very difficult, if you buy direct from these countries, as trading laws in different countries vary, and our rights in the UK will not apply to a nappy purchased, for example, in the USA. If you buy from an importer, there seem to be supply problems, as these nappies get imported in huge quantities. The market can be flooded with a particular nappy for a short time, and then they are sold out, and the next shipment isn't due for 3 months! Quite honestly, it's not worth the hassle.
I have been a nappy advisor for several years now, offering trials of different nappies to local parents. I have not been a nappy seller, as such, during this time, but have frequently been asked to source nappies for parents who have heard about a nappy which they wanted to try, before they bought. Very often parents will try out a dozen or more different nappies, before they decide what is best for them. Consequently, I have had a lot of feedback on many nappies which are not so well known. I always ask for feedback from parents when they do trials, and over this time I have come to realize that there are nappies produced here in the UK, and in Europe, which are equally as good, if not better than 'the best of the rest' on the market.
When nappies are imported from the other side of the world, we are talking about tens of thousands of miles, when you consider that many of the fabrics will be imported in the first place as well.
I can't do anything about the fabrics, as we don't produce fabric any more in the UK. (Even Irish Linen is no longer made in Ireland!) However, I can do something about making these European nappies more well known. This is why I have opened Little Pants Nappies.
I will only stock this shop with tried and tested European made items, which have received good reports from my testers. Please browse, and see what's available. Don't forget, you can return any item, used or unused, for a full refund for unused items, or a partial refund (70%) for used items.
You will find ex-trial nappies in the Bargain section, as due to the nature of my business, I always have some. That doesn't mean they are not good nappies. They may have been returned because they were the wrong size, the wrong fabric, or just because a parent wanted to try out lots of different nappies, before making a definite choice. All trial nappies are sold after a maximum one month out on trial, so they are in almost new condition.
If you want to try a European napppy which you can't find in this store, please contact us. We may have already trialled it, and found it wanting, or we may not know about it, in which case we will try to source one and have it trialled. If you've already tried a European nappy, which we haven't got in stock, and definitely want to buy more, let us know, and we will try to source it at the best possible price for you.
