You will need

100gm (150gm, 200gm, 200gm, 250gm) yarn.

1 x 3.25mm circular needle (NB. 60cm is fine for larger sizes, but 40cm is good for all sizes. If you use a 60cm circular b=needle the first round after casting on will be tight, but once the first round is completed it is easy) 

1 x 3.75 mm circular needle

4 stitch markers (small tied loops of yarn work fine for this)

1 set of 5 x 3.75mm Double pointed needles

2 (3, 3,4, 4) x 50gm balls Double Knitting weight yarn.

1 yarn needle (for sewing)

METHOD

Using a 3.25mm circular needle cast on 96 (108, 120, 132, 144) stitches.

Join the round then complete 5 rounds K2 P2 rib

Next round make cord holes.

*K2 Yfd K2tog, K2 yFd, K2tog * Repeat to end of round.

K 72 (81, 90, 99, 108) Place a stitch marker and continue to the end of the round.

Change to a 3.75mm circular needle, and continue knitting in the round until your work measures 2" less than the final rise you require, measuring from the bottom of the cord holes at the front.

K to the centre front stitch marker, Inc 1 stitch into the next stitch, and place a third stitch marker, K to the centre back stitch marker, Inc 1 stitch into the next stitch, and place a fourth stitch marker.

K a round.

K to the first centre front stitch marker, Inc into the next 2 stitches, K to the first centre back stitch marker, Inc into the next 2 stitches.

K a round

K to the first centre front stitch marker, Inc into the next stich, K2, Inc into the next stitch, K to the first cebtre back stitch marker, Inc into the next stitch, K2, inc into the next stitch.

K a round

K to the first centre front stitch marker, Inc into the next stich, K4, Inc into the next stitch, K to the first centre back stitch marker, Inc into the next stitch, K4, inc into the next stitch.

K a round

Continue in this manner until there are 14 stitches between the 2 centre front and the 2 cetre back stitch markers.

K to the first centre front stitch marker.

Change to your DPN (Double Pointed Needles)needles for the next stage

Usng one DPN K the 14 gusset stitches. 

Usind another DPN K16 (16, 20, 24, 24)

Uing a third DPN K12 (20, 20, 16, 24)

Using a fourth DPN K to the first centre back stitch marker.

Graft the stitches on the first DPN, to the stitches between the centre back stitch markers, which are still on your circular needle.

Join in the ball of yarn, picking up 1 stitch from the centre of the kitchener stich join in the gusset. Then, using the DPN needles, start knitting in rounds until the inside leg measures 1"(1.5" 1.5" 2" 2" ) less than the final inside leg measurement you require.

K 1 round*

Repeat the last 2 rounds until the inside leg measurement is the length you require.

Bind off in P.

Repeat for the other leg.

Make a draw cord for the waist
